Stir-fried wikipedia

Yeah, reposting a funny picture found in another blog is uncool, but I couldn’t resist, considering that Wikipedia is one of my favorite sites. Original credits to the Language Log. Apparently this is a photo taken of a menu of real restaurant in Beijing. Read the end of the post for a link to a “Wikipedia” brand of bread in China. I guess there’s nothing that the Chinese won’t copy.

  1. hello there, i just saw your website via bing, and i would like to say that you express exceptionally good via your website. i am really impressed by the mode that you write, and the content is quality. in any event, i would also like to know whether you would love to exchange links with my web portal? i will be certainly more than willing to reciprocate and insert your link off in the blogroll. anticipating for your answer, thanks and enjoy your day!

  2. I’m not sure stir-fried Wikipedia would go down so well in restaurants over here! I wonder how long it took the restaurant before somebody told them their menus had some seriously dodgy translations. I suppose that’s the difference between using translation companies and relying on automated web translation tools. They might seem like the cheap alternative at first but this restaurant now has to fork out double the amount to print corrected menus. Oh well, maybe they’ll use language professionals the second time round.
